Mr. Mercedes

Mr. Mercedes - Stephen King When this book was announced for the first time, I had no wish to read it at all. Though I am a huge King fan, his novels published in Hard boiled crime edition are not one of his best. It is the same with Mr. Mercedes. Aside the characters, who are quite an homage to pulp, plot itself leaves much to be desired.
Yet, marketing around this book is unbelievable. Real websites, basement section on King's site, whole hype - I couldn't wait to read it. And it was a nice read in itself (King still does it magnificent) when you don't think too much. It would do much better as an afternoon B-movie.
